Upcoming Sundays June 2018

Sunday, June 3, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. ONLY
Affirmation and Bridging – Leann Pomaville & Rev. Marlene Walker On this Sunday we honor our 8th graders whom are leaving childhood and our high school seniors who are entering their journey into adulthood. Affirmation fosters the transition of eight graders into the adult congregation. During Bridging, we recognize that the transition from youth to young adulthood is a moment to be celebrated, a process to be supported, and requires a lifelong commitment from all of us. We use the term “bridging” to refer both to the ritual used to honor this transition and the process of leaving youth community and finding one’s place in young adult community. We will NOT have a Beyond-These-Four-Walls presentation at this service but will split today’s loose collection with Faith Hope & Love – which will be our offertory-outreach recipient for June.

Sunday, June 10, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. ONLY
“Summer, Sabbath, & Grace” – Rev. Marlene Walker
In this last service before heading off to General Assembly and Transylvania, Rev. Walker will reflect on the blessings of summer, taking time for Sabbath, and the grace we can find when we do so. We will have a Beyond-These-Four-Walls presentation at this service for Faith Hope & Love – our offertory-outreach recipient for June.

Sunday, June 17, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. ONLY
“Surrendering Patriarchy” – Erik Gunn On Father’s Day, we honor paternal love, but also examine the harm patriarchy does to all genders, including men. Erik Gunn explores the struggle against patriarchy and the hope for giving it up, with musical contributions from Ben Taft and Doug Clum.

Sunday, June 24, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. ONLY
General Assembly Sunday Morning Worship
The GA Sunday Service, “No Time For A Casual Faith” from Kansas City will be live-streamed in our Sanctuary. Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray will be preaching and the GA choir will be singing. You don’t want to miss this.
