Upcoming Services

Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church

Sunday, Jan 31, 2010 ~ "Happy Birthday, Mr. Fields"

Celebrating the 130th birthday of an American classic, W.C. Fields (b. January 29, 1880), who made us laugh - and think - and taught us subtle theological truths. Our Olympia Brown Choir will be singing at both services.

This Sunday is a 5th Sunday, so the entire collection will go to the UUSC (Unitarian Universalist Service Committee).

Sunday, Feb 7, 2010 ~ "Black Roses"

A celebration of African-American history (February is Black History month), with a special nod to the 50th anniversary of when George and Dorothy Bray joined our church in 1960 - making a difference both for us and the wider community.

Speaking of history, there will be a Beyond-These-Four-Walls presentation on the Racine Heritage Museum, which will be our Offertory Outreach recipient for February.

Sunday, Feb 14, 2010 ~ "Standing (and Singing) on the Side of Love"

The children will join us for the first half of this Valentine's Day service. Our children's, adult, and multigenerational choirs will sing. And so will all of us. This would also be a good Sunday to invite a friend who loves love songs!

Sunday, Feb 21, 2010 ~ "A Better Person than I Really Want to Be"

Does church membership challenge us to be better people than we would otherwise be? (If not, why belong? But if so, who can stand the pressure?) Tony Larsen preaching.

Sunday, Feb 28, 2010 ~ "Choose Your Enemies Carefully"

Why? 1. Because we are often known by the enemies we keep. 2. Because we are always in danger of becoming the people we despise (often as a mirror image). And 3. Because what applies on an individual level often applies to national and international politics. Tony Larsen preaching. Our Olympia Brown Choir will sing at this service!

Sunday, Mar 8, 2010 ~ "YOUTH SUNDAY SERVICE"

YRUU Seniors, our high school youth group (YRUU = Young Religious Unitarian Universalists) will present a service to tickle your mind and rock your heart. We will also have a Beyond-These-Four-Walls presentation on Margaret Ann's Place, which will be our Offertory Outreach recipient for March.
